Curtains in author Mark Twain’s Connecticut mansion sparkled with thousands of tiny beads embroidered onto the fabric. For a touch of Victorian elegance, add beads as you sew.
Steps:
- Make a backstitch – begin at the right end of the pattern line.
- Visualize points 4-3-1-2 an equal distance apart along the line.
- Bring the needle up through the bottom of the fabric at point 1.
- Insert the threaded needle at point 2, and then bring it up at point 3.
- Slip one bead through the needle and onto the thread.
- Continue to backstitch. Insert the needle at point 1, then bring it up at point 4.
- Continue repeating this sequence, working from right to left and adding one bead to each stitch.
Tips:
All stitches must be of equal length.
